Coup d'oeil
Coup d'oeil marks the inaugural exhibition of SPLITART PROJECTS. The curator's perspective focuses on both the quality of the artistic work and the conditions that will highlight and distinguish it from the multitude of other creative productions.
Coup d'oeil is a French term that roughly corresponds to glimpse or glance in English and Blick in German.
Coup d'oeil is a gift from God that cannot be attained, but can be achieved through results. Ultimately, professional experience can often cloud one’s perspective, when clarity is crucial for keeping a “clear eye”. To rise above the mere facts and act based on a careful evaluation of both advantages and disadvantages.
For the curator and artist, coup d'oeil is the ability to view things with simplicity and to immerse themselves with the creative process. This is the cornerstone of success. Only when the mind functions in this inclusive manner can it be free to master events rather than be controlled by them…

SARCA II
The Piraeus Group Cultural Foundation (PIOP) and A.M.K.E. "Field for art and culture" present, from Monday, October 9, 2023, the periodic exhibition "Sarca II", by Thalia Keroulis, at the OPEN-AIR WATER POWER MUSEUM of Hydrokinesis, in Dimitsana.
With the restored workshops and pre-industrial tannery processes as a point of reference, as presented in the Museum, Keroulis' paper sculptures, which directly refer to flesh, carcasses and skins, are in direct dialogue with the permanent exhibition. The works, from the artist's work in progress, entitled "Sarca" (2020-), harmoniously integrated into the spaces of the Museum, highlight key issues such as the fragility of human nature, resilience and care. At the same time, they reflect the inseparable relationship between matter and spirit and the importance of physical and mental health against wear and tear.
Somatica
Neuter plural adjective from the Greek σωματικός, wich means "body", arises from a poetic and anatomical reflection on human body layers, from the inner organs to the skin. Artist Thalia Kerouli covers the whole exhibition space with an assemblage of papers painted with natural pigments and sun-dried until they get a rigid and yet friable texture. Floor and walls therefore function as an architectural backbone on which a new skin is grafted...

Alone
"Alone" Is an digital exhibition in the context of Trento Art Festival, an international exhibition in which contemporary art converses whith the public and collectors by exploring the new opportunities provided by the network through the platform kunstmatrix.com with the patronage of the municipality of Trento.
A double solo exhibition by Thalia Kerouli and Paolo Incarnato who a take distance from the fast rhythms of the modern era but without closing their ears to its “Sirens”. As “monks”, they deepen their artistic discourse, having man at the center of their work, but with a purely humanistic approach.
SARCA
EGIIDON 31 hosts Thalia Kerouli’s solo exhibition Sarca. Sculptures made of paper –which refer to flesh, slaughtered animals and skins, as an of fering to the gods – are scattered in the exhibition space, reminding us of the slaughtered animals found in artworks from different periods of art history.
She mixes old used papers with various materials such as varnis hes, glues and powders. A process, painful on a physical and mental level, as well as contradictory, if one considers that the final product is the composition of a flesh in decomposition.
For Kerouli, this series of works, the beginning of which coinc ided with that of the pandemic, is a
way out, the expression of her strong emotions. As she characteristically has stated, “the skin is
our natural identity where the past and the moments of our own history are recorded.” The works invite the viewer to experience the fragility of human existenc e and its wounded uniqueness and, above all, to confront his own existential fragility, thus raising the question of the relationship between matter and spirit.
